As the only museum and research library solely focused on this region, PMH offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore changing exhibitions, events, lectures, docent-led tours, and free access to the Research Library & Archives. With a diverse range of offerings, including exhibits like “Quilts on the Wall” and tours of the historic Fényes Mansion, the museum provides an immersive experience that showcases the area’s heritage and contributions to art and culture.

The PMH complex comprises several structures, including the History Center housing galleries and a museum store, the Fényes Mansion offering tours of a prominent Pasadena family’s home on Millionaire’s Row, and the Finnish Folk Art Museum showcasing authentic artifacts from a 19th-century Finnish farmhouse. The museum’s commitment to preserving Pasadena’s legacy is evident through its extensive archives containing historic photographs, books, maps, artifacts, paintings from plein air painters, textiles, ceramics, furnishings, and more. By offering special event spaces for gatherings and educational programs on local architecture, fine art, literature, science, social issues, and historic achievements, PMH serves as a hub for promoting appreciation of the region’s cultural heritage.

Supported by admission fees, donations from various sources, and memberships, the Pasadena Museum of History continues to expand its collections and resources. The Research Library & Archives house over one million historic photos, rare books, manuscripts, architectural records, costumes, textiles, ceramics, furnishings, and other artifacts significant to the area’s history. With a focus on community engagement through exhibits, tours for students in area schools, lectures, seminars, workshops, and special collections donated by individuals and organizations active in Pasadena, PMH remains a vital institution that celebrates the past while inspiring future generations to appreciate and preserve the region’s cultural legacy.
