About
The Pasadena Model Railroad Museum, established in 1984, is a unique institution that not only serves as a museum but also houses the Pasadena Model Railroad Research Center. The Research Center is dedicated to acquiring a wide range of materials related to all aspects of railroading, including books, photographs, periodicals, motion picture film, and videotapes. This ongoing project, supported by donations, has resulted in a large collection of reference materials and model railroad magazines, making it a valuable historical resource. The museum’s commitment to preserving the history of railroading and providing a platform for model railroad enthusiasts reflects its dual role as both a museum and a research center.
The museum is home to the Sierra Pacific Lines, an HO-scale model railroad that is one of the largest in the world. This impressive model railroad is a major attraction for model and railway enthusiasts from around the globe. The museum is open to the public on the third Sunday of every month, providing visitors with the opportunity to see the Sierra Pacific Lines in action. The museum’s dedication to creating an immersive and educational experience for both members and the public underscores its role as a hub for modelers and enthusiasts, offering an engaging environment for all who share a passion for model railroading.
